You can’t do it.
You’re Too old.
It just runs in the family…
These “limiting beliefs” almost stopped me from some pretty incredible experiences and physical accomplishments in my life.
My family has terrible knees. My Papa, mom, brother, etc… we just have bad knees. I thought this was just “normal.” To make matters worse, in my late thirties, I finally went to see a doctor for the knee pain I experienced. I was told by a Texas orthopedic surgeon that I cannot and should not run – it’s bad for my knees. I almost believed him…
But I wanted different.
I wanted better.
I was willing to put the work in.
I questioned what this physician told me.
Why can’t I run??
Why are my knees hurting me so badly??
I questioned my fate just because this is considered “normal” for my family.
So, I became my own health advocate!
Interesting side note: my knee and joint pain was caused by inflammation from the FOODS I was eating! I went gluten-free and literally, feel better now than I did 20 years ago – but that’s a whole ‘nother story. I teach my Fit Soul Tribe to eat in an anti-inflammatory diet and have seen radical changes in how they feel as well!
I started running at age 40.
At first, all I could do was 3 miles, and I was really fit. I remember the 1st time I ran 4 miles, I thought I was going to die, and at the same time, was absolutely thrilled I was able to reach a new milestone.
Slowly, I kept adding a mile at a time and conditioned my body for long runs.
I am 46 years old and have run 18 half marathons (13.1 miles) in 6 years, and I’m just getting started 😜.
Bad knees and too old? Umm NOPE.
You see, I had limiting beliefs because of what a doctor told me. Because of my family history. Because of my age. This is a small example of a limiting belief.
A limiting belief is anything you believe to be true and is limiting you in some way.
These beliefs can hold you back from reaching your greatest potential.
Question your limiting beliefs & seriously consider the consequences of this belief.
What LIES are you believing about yourself, physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally?
